HAPPY NEW YEAR Women of Valour!!!

I wrote this blog in 2019 but NEVER published it! I know why now because Daddy God wanted to show me something deeper. Please leave a commit and subscribe to our YouTube Channel.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the movie "Frozen" with Anna and Elsa. The lessons in this movie are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!

I turned on the TV looking for a specific show. I came across this cartoon movie scene with Elsa Singing "Let It Go!!!

Do you have the picture in your mind?

I know and LOVE this scene: She has chosen to walk in the FREEDOM of who she is. She is NOT going to let anyone stop her at least that's what her words tell her and us. I was EXCITED for her and cheering her on. Aren't you?

But then I saw the scene tonight of her telling Anna she could NOT go back home with her.

For those that did not watch the video and kept reading here is the synopsis

It hit me that she was still in a prison in her own mind. What her parents had planted in her mind was supposed to provide protection for her, Anna, and the rest of the kingdom. But what it placed inside of Elsa was fear. Specifically a fear of failing others. She was feeling rejection from a little girl. She had done something wrong and she was being punished for it from her perspective. 

There are many ways rejection manifests itself. One of them is the fear of failure. Elsa was afraid of her gift. She created a place of isolation and seclusion in her beautiful ice castle. So she could be alone and not hurt anyone.

She FINALLY had FREEDOM!!!

Is that freedom or is a fancier prison of her own making?

No matter how you dress up a prison it is still a prison. 

Rejection manifests itself as FEAR and has us lock our true selves away from the world. We put on masks.

Elsa said go back Your life awaits. What about Elsa’s life? 

She bought into a lie that she was free when actually she just traded one prison for another. What in the world just happened?

Talk about a paradigm shift and an AH HAH moment 

She said she can’t escape the storm inside. She was right. Just as we cannot escape the storm of rejection and abandonment we feel. BUT as believers in Jesus Christ there is HELP AND HOPE.

There was also protection Elsa needed to provide for her sister and the kingdom from herself and her gift.

She went from the prison of her castle with her family to the prison of her ice castle of seclusion and isolation.

Both were prisons one made by her parents and the other made by her.

What the Holy Spirit just hit me with is the fact that I went from one prison with my mother to another one that I created in the military. I was in seclusion and my cell of choice was my home. I was in solitary confinement except for going out to go to work and shop.

WOW I have never seen it like that before. Talk about an AH HAH Moment.

I went back and watched the portion where the trolls 'healed' Anna but they removed her memories of magic. They planted a thought of fear within Elsa for the gift that she had. Her dad made her home a prison for the protection of her, Anna and the Kingdom. She was now the "problem child". She was made to feel like something was wrong with her because they did not understand her or her gift. 

Rejection many times manifests during our childhood.

My thought was where was her Mom's voice. She was silent at least that is what we get from the movie.

Maybe you had a silent Mother who allowed someone else to always make the decisions concerning you.
or
Maybe you had the loud and controlling Mother who made all of the decisions.

Whichever way it falls you were affected as Elsa was by the decisions and the silence or even the loudness which led to your voice not being heard. 

How many times have we moved from one prison to another?

For me it has been many times. Subscribe we will unpacking this topic of rejection this year.

REMEMBER GOD LOVES YOU MORE AND MORE THAN YOUR FINITE MIND CAN EVER COMPREHEND!!!

Prayer: I have made my plans or in the process. Holy Spirit, I am asking you to show me where rejection took a hold of me and walk with me through the process into the darkness so Your Light can expose and deliver me in this area.

What to DO when stress won't leave you alone?

Many days I have woken up stressed about situations, I have tried to fix them and couldn't. I felt like I had the weight of the world on my shoulders. I felt like nobody cared and nobody knew the pain and burden I was carrying. I felt like giving up and throwing in the towel.

BUT God! Can you relate? Keep Reading...

Something would always happen to shift the atmosphere, a song, a kind soul with an encouraging word just for me or God whispering in my ear! I could regroup and take it from there. Oh Jeremiah 29:11, Romans 8:28, Philippians 4:13 and I Corinthians 10:13. 

I could even hear my Momma praying and she has long departed this earth. 

I start getting EXCITED remembering:

• God has a plan for me. (Jeremiah 29:11)
• God's plan for us is always perfect and all things work together for the good of those that love the Lord and are called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)
• I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)
• No temptation and no temptation has seized me except what is common to man, but God is faithful. He will not let me be tempted beyond what I can bear. But if I am tempted he will provide a way out that I can endure. (I Corinthians 10:13) 

This is when the praise party has begun. When I start hearing and speaking what the Word of God says about me. This is TRULY STRESS MANAGEMENT!!!

Depression, guilt, and feeling inadequate has had to vacate my spirit. Because God has more than any situation or trial that I have or can possibly face. He is sovereign, all knowing and all powerful and I am an overcomer and victorious in every situation when I place it in the Master's hand. 

This is my experience but God wants the same for you as well.

If I am going to pray don't worry keep the faith and if I am going to worry about it don't pray because that defeats the purpose. I hope this encourages you to take the next step to your healing and growing in Christ.

Do we really appreciate:

•  each breathe we take
•  each morning we rise 
•  each night we lay our heads down 

Have we stopped to give thanks to the SOURCE-GOD our Father?

We thank the salesperson at the gas station (resource) but before approaching our purse/wallet we should have thanked the SOURCE. God our Father is the SOURCE who makes all the provisions for all that we need and have. 

Do we say thank you to our Father all the time? Probably not as often as we should. I’m going to speak for myself, I recognize that often I don’t do it enough. So after He wakes me up I decided to do my best to get it right. I praise and thank God so much for the little things now. 

Just recently a friend posted on social media that her 17 yr old son passed. I was devastated just imaging what her and her family were going thru. I paused and thanked God for the gifts he blessed me with in the 2 young men I’m raising as well as my beautiful free spirited grandchildren. 

It could have been the other way! This is the truth to YOU as well my friend reading this post. Keep reading...

About 2 months ago, God blessed me with a new car. In less than a week I was involved in an accident. After checking to make sure everyone was okay. I said a prayer with shaking hands to thank the Lord. The Source of my being and the author and finisher of my life. 

I thanked God for every resource he allowed me to have:

• income
• a loving family (even with the loss of my parents) 
• a sibling and child 
• shelter 
• food to eat
• wonderful church family
• the ability to give him praise 

because after all I am in my right mind. Can you relate? Keep reading...

I cannot move paralyzed, but since I have the ability to bend my knees and raise my hands I must give Him praise. Always and be thankful and bless His name for the Lord is great and greatly to be praised. Every moment is precious to me and so is My Creator. 

I never want to take my God or His love for me for granted. So, I just wanted to share. With all the demands I place on myself as well as obligations placed on me by resources. 

My resources are:

• employers
• school
• community organizations 
• yes even the church.

What are your resources that are pulling on you?

I realized I must spend time thanking and praising the Source- God, My Father - God, My Creator and My Lord and Savior. He is Good! No, HE is GREAT and as I shared before Greatly to be praised.

I say that now...

But trust me there was times when I struggled. I didn't doubt God as much as I doubted the process. I had it all figured out in my mind how things should go. Not only did it happen completely different than I thought but timing was way off on many occasions. 

I can remember recently, I had big plans but God had plans and my plans did not align with his. Whose plans prevailed (God's) and that is because HE is in charge of everything and HIS plans are what's best for me. 

Often times, I can confess I stepped out of the will of God because I was a control freak, I had to be in control or so I thought. So God let me do it my way and when it failed and I went crying back to HIM, I apologized, HE forgave me and HIS perfect plan prevailed. It was just delayed because of my defiant behavior. It always goes so much smoother, when I let MY Father take control.

I was recently confronted with some not so good memories. The loss of a few people real near and dear to me. At the passing of each, I refused to cry or let any emotions flow, because I had to be strong and in control. On the surface it looked like I had it all together. Then the bomb dropped. I came home from work and saw on channel 13, Myrt Howerton. (She was my friend.) I laughed with my daughter saying what has Myrt done now? News came back on just to say...

 "Myrt Howerton dead at 59". 

What, how, it must be some mistake. I just talked to her a few days ago. Tears began to flow like Niagara Falls. I couldn't hold them back I had no, I mean NO control. The cry was even hysterical and snotty. Kleenex couldn't get in my hands fast enough. Every time, I thought about it I cried almost to the point of hyperventilating. 

Grief can take us some places we don't necessarily want to go! Keep reading...

Once I got some composure I wrote a poem to her to help relieve my grief. Weeks passed and periodically I would just start to cry. I finally talked to my sister who thought I needed counseling for suppressed  grief. I sought help at the Renaissance Center and had the best counselor in the world. The healing process could be felt after 6 weeks. I could now reflect back on my being in control and how I suppressed my  pain due to losses from death and relationships. 

Over and over I was able to see how if I had only placed things in the Master's hand it would have turned out differently for me. Yep it would have still hurt when my first real love died, my mother and father, but if I hadn't thought I was superwoman instead of trusting God I would have dealt with my emotions and heartaches immediately. Instead of burying them all and having a resurrection of sad memories erupt like a volcano when I least expected it. 

The uncontrollable emotions were being exposed as if I were on a bill board with super bright florescent colors. On the most sunny day of the summer, yes God allowed my weakness to be revealed. This was done  so I could lean on HIM and be healed. Yes, it was devastating BUT God knew what I needed and HIS timing is always perfect. I knew God wanted what was best for me and wanted me to relinquish my cares to HIM and let HIM lead me. 

Good News: 
I am no longer bottling up every emotion God gave me! But instead I am able to smile over the fond memories of those who I lost. I still cry occasionally when I really miss them. 

Just to think God took someone who kept me 

grounded and laughing to break me down 

so HE could build me up. 

What an awesome God I Serve! Have a Jesus Joy Day and let God be your strength!

Hello Women of Valour,

I had a dream last night!

My Dream:

Setting: We were sitting at a table outside on a big redbrick patio having a conversation.  It was a beautiful day!!!

I was talking to a lady who had 2 children and was down on herself and God! She was complaining about her life and how she did not know if God was listening much less hearing her. She was talking about who she was not and would never be. I listened to her talk and talk as only we women can. (smile).

Me: Can I share something with you about the God that I know?

Lady: Yes

Me: You have two children correct?

Lady: Yes.

Me: Do you treat your children the way?

Lady: No.

Me: Why:

Lady: Because they are NOT the same. My son is very strong but my daughter is very emotional.

Me: Just as your children are different so are we as God's children. God does NOT treat me and you the same just as you don't treat your children the same. HE is Our Ultimate Parent! We are children of God but individuals as well. He meets us where we are but HE loves us more than enough not to leave us there. Do you believe this?

Lady: Yes.

Me: Do you love your children? Do you see things in them that they do NOT see?

Lady: Yes, more than life! Yes, all the time!

Me: Just as God loves you and sees things in you that you do not see within yourself.

Lady: No words just a BIG smile on her face and tears forming in her eyes.

Me: God LOVES you! (as I pointed at her) God is always listening because HE said HE would NEVER leave us or forsake us. He has NEVER left your side and HE never will. Are you doing ALL the talking and not listening? In order to hear an answer you must first listen. It is VERY hard to listen and talk at the same time. Maybe what you need is some quiet time where you just sit and listen. What I know about Daddy God is the fact that HE loves to talk to us. HE is VERY personable and relational. He is desiring PURPOSED INTIMACY with us each and every day!!!

I woke up with a smile on my face because this is where God has me right now. Hopefully, something that you read blessed you to continue or start walking toward purposed intimacy with HIM today!!!

CHOOSE TO BELIEVE

Choose to BELIEVE and RECEIVE WHO You Are!!!

You are loved!  You are accepted! You are significant! God sent HIS ONLY SON, Jesus, just for you. (John 3:16) This is why we celebrate the Christmas season. It is because of the birth of The One who would ultimately show the Love our Daddy God has for you and me. Notice I did not say had but "has" in the present tense. This means today and right now this moment and second. Jesus gave HIS life to save each one of ours. But HE did NOT give it just for us to exist but to LIVE IT!!!

YOU ARE LOVED!
YOU ARE ACCEPTED!
YOU ARE SIGNIFICANT!

Jesus was sent because Your Father and mine loves each one of us. 
Jesus came because HE wanted us to know that we are accepted. 
Jesus came because we are significant. 

During this season of celebration or misery with your family and friends, remember it is up to YOU!!! You can choose to believe!

If you do not have a loving natural family or even if you do. You do have a loving spiritual one. You have to believe it for yourself no one can do it for you. You may be in the valley, on the mountaintop, or somewhere in between today. But you are LOVED by Your Father and mine. 

You have NOT:

•  made too many mistakes 
• committed too many sins
• turned your back too many times for God to give up on you. 

Your family, friends, and associates may have given up but NOT your Heavenly Father.

As I listened to my favorite Christmas song, questions filled my mind.

Can you imagine giving birth to the Son of God? Watching Him grow from a baby, to a toddler, to a teenager, and to an adult. Then watching Him give HIS life for the world. This song is POWERFUL and always puts me in a VERY thankful mood. No matter what is going on in your life I pray it does the same for you. This is HOW MUCH you are loved today!

I am praying for you to believe these 3 things about yourself:

1. I am loved!
• The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you. (Jeremiah 31:3)
2. I am accepted  
   

   • To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved (Ephesians 1:6)
3. I am significant 
• Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.  (Psalm 139:16)

Prayer: Holy Spirit, Open my eyes to see that I am loved, accepted, and significant by and to You, Daddy God, today. I am choosing to believe these as my truths. Thank You in advance for showing me who I really am.

Real Talk - I WON TODAY!!!

Hello Hello Hello Women of Valour,

It has been a LLLLLLOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGGG time since I have written anything.

But I just have to share this in written form to help me process my day today. Hopefully and prayerfully it will help you all as well as I share. 

It hit me this morning that EVERYTHING starts with a thought. You might say DUH!!! 

But it hit me that my thoughts turn into my actions and many times non actions! My thoughts sometimes paralyze me from acting on them. BUT NOT TODAY!!!

Let me back track a little.

So this morning I woke up and the thought hit me to go to the gym. I recently started working out...again!!! (Yeah I know I hear you saying...me too)

So instead of me giving myself excuses. I just got dressed and went. I actually enjoyed my time on the treadmill. There were only 5 people in the gym with me at 7:00am on a Saturday. 

Funny thing happened I was able to accomplish some things:

•  My Saturday Motivation Facebook Live Saturday Motivation - Limitations 
• I was able to walk 3 miles 
• I was able to read the Bible and allow the Holy Spirit to show me things I had not seen in Scripture or even within myself.

Within our WOV Closed Group, We are reading Understanding Your Potential by Myles Munroe. This book, the Bible, and the Holy Spirit are taking me on a brand new journey that I did not even know I signed up for. 

Have you ever been there? I hear you saying...Yeah, Yes, and Yep!!! Keep reading... 

Two things stuck out to me today that Myles Munroe says in the book. 

1) You cannot climb beyond the limitations of YOUR OWN BELIEF!!!

I realized today that I took a step forward toward wholeness and healing within my mind and body. I chose to ACT on the thought that popped into my mind. I did not give an excuse which is what I have done in my past. I chose to act. While on the treadmill I started thinking about how I can make exercising a part of my everyday routine.

You can do this too! It is a mindset shift which starts with a thought then action which will bring results then REPEAT!!!

Thought + Action = Results I did not allow my feelings to come into play because then I would not have taken the action required to get the results.  #WOVourthoughtsmatter

Can I tell you in that moment the Holy Spirit began to download a plan to me on just how easy it would be to implement this plan. I am EXCITED because it is sooooooo simple. My thought now has an ACTION PLAN to get it done and produce results. 

2) God created EVERYTHING with potential!!!

Today as I thought about this concept I thought about the seed that Myles keeps saying a seed has a tree inside of it with fruit and seeds and another tree with fruit and seeds and it keeps multiplying. But all you see is the seed. 

Can I tell you that my thought was a seed today that became an action (tree) and produced results (fruit). This will produce more seeds and so on. 

You can do this too!!!! yes i am talking to you!!! 

This means in any and every area of your life!!! Relationships, finances, spiritual, exercise, mental, etc. Set a goal and go after it.

• Exercise starts with one thought then a step
• Healing a relationship starts with one thought then a word with the person
• Budgeting starts with a thought and writing out your bills
• Reading the Bible starts with a thought and reading one verse
• Prayer starts with a thought and a word with God

I challenge you to try this in your life today!!! 

I still would have done the Saturday Motivation and Spent time in the Word but not walked 3 miles. 

Today is a WIN WIN WIN day!!!

Who do you THINK you are?

SIMPLE BUT POWERFUL TRUTH

When I came across this little picture it resonated with me. It is the scripture Proverbs 23:7: As a man thinks so it he.

Has anyone ever asked you this question : 

Who do you think you are?

That question  used to bother me greatly because I did not KNOW who I was and I did not KNOW what to think of me except bad things. It seemed to ALWAYS be introduced or followed by an attitude from the person asking the question. I was NEVER a threat to anyone. I just wanted to be left alone because I was never any value added to any situation or conversation. 

Have you ever felt or thought this way about you?

Well, join the club. You are NOT the only one!

I am writing to let you know that this is NOT the end of your story. It is Only a part. A part that can be overcome by learning to speak and think differently about you!!!

Jesus Christ has done His part by giving His life as the Ultimate sacrifice. He wants to continue by walking with each one of us through the process. Therefore our participation is required. 

First step make a decision that YOU want to change. You are no longer satisfied with the status quo of your life. The key in both  sentences is Y-O-U!!! You have to make an investment in You! God already has by sending HIS one and only Son, Jesus the Christ.

Let's be clear I am talking about internal change. 

* You are the executive or leader but you feel unloved or you do not deserve to be or belong where you are or you feel insignificant even though on the outside you seem to have everything together. There is something missing. Who are you really?

*You are the one who has always barely scaped by or had just enough because this was what your Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, etc did and you believe this is all there is for you. So you are stuck trying to feel the void within you. You are dealing with feelings of being unloved, you don't feel accepted or you don't belong. You don't deserve more. You are insignificant in your eyes and everyone's around you.

If either of these scenarios are stepping on your toes then you are dealing with an identity crisis. Are you ready to make an investment in you!!!

Good News for the bruised and wounded

God wants us to know that we are indeed:

• loved
• accepted 
• significant 

It was sooooo important that HE had it written in a book called the Bible!

You may have been bruised, cut, and/or wounded but you are still loved. You may be laying in, crawling or walking through the middle of your wound(s). You will have trials and sorrows (John 16:33) But this is NOT the end of  your story only a part of it. HE being Jesus has overcome/conquered the world. This includes your bruises, cuts, and wounds!!! Choose to get up by taking HIS Hand. He is offering it to you right now!

Today, you may have more questions than answers as to "why" this or that. I do not know or have the answers but I do know the ONE who does! HIS Name is Jesus the Christ!

Have you made the choice to accept Jesus as Your Savior? If the answer is no. You can today. Have you chosen to follow and then allowed life and/people to get in your way. Then today choose to get back up and walk to and with HIM.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, I need a Savior, Jesus Christ. I openly confess that I am a sinner and need a Savior. I am asking You to forgive me of all my sins and come into my heart. As I am confessing with my mouth and believing in my heart that Jesus Christ is the Lord who came to this earth, was crucified, and was resurrected on the third day. I choose today to receive you into my heart according to Romans 10: 9 - 10. I choose to trust you with my life. I choose to get up today and walk to and with You as You lead and guide me. In Jesus' Name Amen.

Today is Father's Day!!! Another special day set aside to celebrate our Father's and/or Dads. What does your day look like today? Are you...

• Celebrating with your Dad at home or a restaurant
• Missing your Dad because he has entered eternity (like mine)
• Missing your Dad because he does not remember you or your name (Alzheimer/Dementia)
• Angry at your Dad because he was and is absentee in your life
• Bitter because you never received closure 

Wherever you find yourself today just know that you are here on purpose. You are and were NEVER a mistake. I don't care what your mother, father, grandma, grandpa, etc says about your conception.

  You are here today on purpose and with a purpose.

As I thought about this today and this post I began to ponder the question:

What is the difference between a father and a dad? So, when we have questions we often ask Google. Right? I did not really expect an answer but was surprised when I did.

This was what Google said:
"There is a huge difference between what makes a father and what makes a dad. A father is someone who believes that by donating his sperm for your creation, he has done his duty in life. ...To me, there is no greater man than a dad." Here is the article Click here

This Father's Day I am missing out on my Father and my Dad. Both have entered eternity.

As I look back over both of their lives I cannot allow the decisions that were made to overshadow who I am and who I was created to be.

Love you all but Daddy God loves you even more than your finite mind can ever comprehend!!!

Prayer: Lord, thank you in advance for the lives of ALL fathers today! Let us see ourselves as You have created each one of us on purpose with a purpose! Help us renew our minds to see that You have never and will never create an accident where Your children are concerned. Open our eyes to see, open our ears to hear your voice speak to us, and open our hearts to understand and believe it as our truths. In Jesus' Name!!! Amen

DETOURS

My Teachable Moment:

I was riding down the street today and found that my normal route was blocked with a sign posted.

As I followed the signs: turn right. then still further turn right. then left. I quickly realized I had never been through that particular neighborhood that way.  I had to trust the signs because I did not know where I was in relationship to where I wanted to go.

As I was looking for the next orange detour sign, I found myself gaining confidence that I was being led in the right direction.

The Holy Spirit hit me with this thought:

The same way I was looking for and trusting in the detour signs is the same 

way  I should be looking for the detour signs in my life. When my life seems
 to  take a detour  from my expected route. I really have to trust in the Lord to
 lead and guide me. Proverbs 3: 5 - 6 immediately came to my mind.

APPLICATION: Start looking for the detour signs in your life and follow them knowing that Our God, Daddy is only going to lead us where HE wants us to be. Even if it means it is somewhere we do not want to be at during this particular season or challenge. 

As I think about one major detour of getting out of the military and becoming a school teacher. I was following the voice of the Holy Spirit. The detour definitely made me trust and rely on God. My first position, I was a teacher with no experience. My students loved on me and showed me how to love. They also taught me how to teach them. I learned what their strengths and weaknesses were and also mine. We were able to work on them together. This is still true today of being taught by my students. We build and challenge each other as well as hold each other accountable.    

What detours are happening in your life right now?

1. Starting a business/ministry
2. Foster Care
3. Leaving a job/applying for a new job
4. Reaching out to family
5. Seeking counseling/group therapy
6. Seeking a spouse
7. Reinventing yourself
8. Reading/Studying the Bible
9. Reading books that will lead to freedom
10. Going back to school
11. Overcoming fear in any area
12. Forgiving someone who has wounded you deeply
13. Writing a book that God has laid on your heart
14. Volunteering at a soup kitchen/shelter
15. Dealing with unexpected divorce
16. Staying faithful in your singleness
17. Adopting a child
18. Unexpected pregnancy
19. Dealing with an unexpected illness/diagnosis
20. Dealing with grief from an expected/unexpected loss, etc.

Our detours can lead us many different places. But at the end of the day or month, were you obedient to the leading of the voice of the Lord in your life. Only you can answer that question.

This teachable moment has given me the PUSH I needed to continue to walk in what God has called me to do which is allowing HIM to set the captive free and help women take off their masks.

Prayer: Lord, show us take and navigate the detours in our lives that you have set up.  Even the ones we have created in our own lives. Help us follow your leading and guidance.  Also, reveal to us the deceptions in our lives that may try and mimic You.
